Roots and Wings Discovery Preschool Program

​We believe children are naturally ready to learn and we help to guide young children through early development via a play based and wildschooling approach, while striving to encourage and inspire a curiosity with nature and the natural world. We are proud to offer a discovery focused and nature-inspired, developmentally appropriate early childhood experience and the only preschool program of it's kind in the area! Enrolling your child in Roots + Wings Discovery Preschool will help build upon their knowledge through:

•  hands-on & play based experiences in our indoor and outdoor learning environments (the 3rd teacher)

•  exploring and discovering with classroom materials

•  engaging in deeper thinking with open ended questions/discussions & guided lessons developed from child interests

•  developing positive & nurturing relationships with peers and teacher guides.

As little explorers at Roots and Wings Discovery Preschool, students will have hands-on experience with nature projects throughout the year. Some of our fun and exciting nature immersive projects for each season include but are not limited to the following: bee keeping and honey tasting, leaves changing, snow and ice, maple tree tapping and maple syrup tasting, embryology (hatching eggs), etc.

PLEASE NOTE: WE GO OUTSIDE DAILY with the exception of downpours, thunder, lightning and high wind warnings. *Each child is assigned an Oaki rainsuit for use throughout the school year.

Frequently asked question: Is this a religious program? We are not a religious program. We rent space from the church. Everything in the indoor and outdoor classroom as well as the structure in the outdoor classroom are property of Roots and Wings Discovery Preschool.

Roots + Wings Discovery Preschool 2025/26 class will begin Tuesday September 2, 2025. 

• Children MUST be 3 years old on or before the first day of school of the year of enrollment to register for 3 year old program. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE FULLY POTTY TRAINED ON ADULT SIZE TOILETS . Potty training materials are not allowed.

• 3 year old children may register for our 2 day program ONLY.

• 4 and 5 year old children may register for our 4 day program ONLY. 

• There is an annual $100 non-refundable registration fee to hold a spot in our preschool program and we expect a commitment for the school year when registering with us. 

• We accept Child Development & Care (formally known as DHHS) scholarship payments for our preschool program.
